Location: Toronto, ON (3x onsite a week)

Pay Rate: CAD$60 - $70/HR INC

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer with strong expertise in Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), along with hands-on development experience in modern web technologies and microservices. The role involves designing, building, and optimizing cloud-native applications, leading modernization initiatives, and ensuring secure, scalable deployments using containers and CI/CD practices.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Engineering (Azure & GCP)

• Design, deploy, and manage cloud-native applications on Azure and GCP.
• Implement best practices for scalability, security, monitoring, and cost optimization.
• Support cloud migration and modernization initiatives.

Application Development & Modernization

• Develop applications using React, Angular, Node.js, Java, Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain REST APIs and microservices.
• Modernize legacy applications (WebSphere, Liberty, DB2).
• Optimize performance and scalability.

Microservices & API Engineering

• Architect microservices-based systems.
• Design secure REST APIs with proper documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI).

Containerization & Kubernetes

• Containerize applications using Docker.
• Deploy and manage workloads on Kubernetes (AKS, GKE).
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.

Integration & Middleware

• Integrate cloud services with legacy systems and databases.
• Work with distributed system and integration patterns.

Development Tools & Governance

• Use Git/SVN for version control.
• Manage builds with Gradle.
• Follow secure coding and governance best practices.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have Skills

• Azure and/or GCP cloud expertise.
• React, Angular, Node.js development.
• Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs.
• Microservices architecture.
• Docker and Kubernetes.
• WebSphere, Liberty, DB2 experience.
• Git, Gradle, Swagger/OpenAPI.

Nice-to-Have

• CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
• Kafka or MQ.
• DevSecOps and cloud security practices.
