Supply Ontario seeks a skilled Senior Cloud DevOPS Engineer to lead the evolution of our technology infrastructure and application deployments we advance our digital capabilities within the Enterprise Solutions Portfolio for Enterprise Technology. This pivotal role will implement Supply Ontario's next-generation cloud applications, infrastructure, focusing on procurement-specific solutions while maintaining seamless integration with existing OPS common IT services. The successful candidate will drive the implementation of modern cloud technologies to enhance service delivery, improve vendor experience, and enable faster deployment of critical procurement solutions. This initiative builds upon Supply Ontario's commitment to technological innovation and operational excellence in serving our Broader Public Sector (BPS) partners.

Responsibilities

  • Cloud Architecture and Implementation:
  • Design and implement Supply Ontario's procurement-focused cloud applications and infrastructure, ensuring scalability and security.
  • Establish and maintain enhanced security controls for sensitive procurement data.
  • Configure optimized network architecture for improved vendor and BPS partner connectivity.
  • Implement agile deployment frameworks for rapid feature delivery.
  • Enterprise Services Management:
  • Develop specialized identity and access management systems for procurement platforms.
  • Ensure security and compliance services aligned with procurement industry standards.
  • Design and manage data protection strategies for sensitive vendor information.
  • Establish efficient integration services between procurement systems and OPS common IT services.
  • Solution Development and Enhancement:
  • Collaborate with team members the implementation of modern digital tools for vendors and BPS partners.
  • Design scalable applications that enable rapid deployment of new features.
  • Implement efficient integration patterns between critical systems.
  • Ensure seamless user experience across all procurement platforms.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Bicep.
  • Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
  • Automate deployment processes and configuration management for cloud environments.
  • Operational Excellence:
  • Develop streamlined cloud operations framework for procurement systems.
  • Establish enhanced security operations for sensitive data protection.
  • Design and implement performance monitoring and cost optimization systems.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives for operational efficiency.:
  • Team Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Mentor technical team members in modern cloud technologies and best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align cloud initiatives with procurement objectives.
  • Partner with vendors and BPS organizations to optimize system interactions.
  • Drive innovation in procurement technology solutions.

Required Skills

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with major cloud platforms such as Azure (preferred), AWS or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This includes experience in deploying, managing, and optimizing cloud applications and infrastructure services.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Bicep.
  • In-depth understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, security groups, and load balancers as well as implementing cloud security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and compliance with industry standards..
  • Strong technical leadership background with deep understanding of enterprise architecture, quality assurance, and release management, plus experience minimizing business disruption while managing critical issues
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery and backup strategies in a cloud environment to ensure data integrity and availability. Additionally, leveraging Strong proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation of cloud tasks leveraging bicep.

Performance Expectations

  • Quarterly performance reviews against agreed-upon objectives and deliverables
  • Minimum 80% achievement of approved quarterly objectives
  • Development and maintenance of detailed project documentation
  • Regular status reporting as per project management framework
  • Adherence to all Supply Ontario policies, procedures, and professional standards

Work Arrangements

  • Hybrid work arrangement with minimum 2-3 days per week on-site at Supply Ontario offices
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule based on project needs and stakeholder availability
  • Availability for occasional evening/weekend work during critical project phases

Interview Conditions

  • If suspected, during interview, AI tools are used to answer the questions, the interview will be terminated immediately and the candidate will be disqualified from the position

Intellectual Property and Confidentiality

  • All work products, documentation, and intellectual property created during the engagement remain the property of Supply Ontario
  • Strict adherence to confidentiality agreements and data protection protocols
  • Non-disclosure agreement required as condition of engagement
  • Return of all Supply Ontario property and materials upon contract completion

Probationary Period

  • Initial 90-day probationary period to assess fit and capabilities
  • Clear performance objectives to be established within first 30 days
  • Bi-weekly check-ins during probationary period
  • Option to terminate with 5 business days' notice during probationary period

Early Termination Provisions

  • Supply Ontario may terminate the contract with 10 business days' written notice without cause
  • Immediate termination for:
  • Breach of confidentiality or security protocols
  • Failure to meet minimum performance standards after documented warning
  • Violation of Supply Ontario policies or professional conduct standards
  • Misrepresentation of qualifications or experience
  • Extended unavailability without approved leave

Extension and Renewal Provisions

  • Contract extension is at the sole discretion of Supply Ontario
  • Extension decisions will align with Supply Ontario's internal procurement policies and procedures
  • Factors considered for extension include but are not limited to:
  • Achievement of defined deliverables and performance metrics
  • Ongoing organizational need for services
  • Budget availability and value for money
  • Contractor's demonstrated reliability and cultural fit
  • Project continuity requirements
  • Extension terms:
  • Maximum extension periods as per Supply Ontario procurement policy
  • Rate adjustments, if any, must align with approved rate cards
  • Additional or modified terms may be introduced during extension
  • Extension process:
  • Review initiated minimum 30 days before contract end date
  • Appropriate management approvals as per delegation of authority
  • Written notice of extension decision provided minimum 30 days before contract end
  • No guarantee or implicit right to extension regardless of performance
  • Supply Ontario reserves the right to:
  • Modify role requirements during extension period
  • Adjust work arrangements and conditions
  • Implement new policies or procedures
  • Require additional qualifications or certifications
  • Contractor acknowledgment:
  • No expectation of automatic renewal
  • Extension discussions do not constitute commitment
