About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and Excel-savvy individual to support payroll data analysis and wage computation at a Bangalore-based law firm. The work is structured and number-driven. If you are comfortable working with salary data, enjoy building Excel models with formulas and logic, and can communicate your findings clearly, this role is a good fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with salary and payroll data - organise, validate, and analyse it in Excel
- Build and maintain spreadsheets for wage computations, salary comparisons, and statutory deductions (PF, ESI, bonus, gratuity)
- Apply Excel formulas to automate calculations and minimise manual errors
- Prepare clean, readable summaries and reports for internal review
- Coordinate with team members to collect and verify payroll data
- Flag discrepancies or inconsistencies in inputs and follow through to resolution
- Respond to internal data queries promptly and translate numbers into plain language where needed
Skills Required
Must-Have
- Good working knowledge of salary and payroll components - Basic Pay, HRA, allowances, deductions, PF, ESI, bonus, gratuity, and how payslips are structured
- Strong Excel proficiency: VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP, IF and nested IF formulas, SUMIF / COUNTIF, MAX / MIN formulas, pivot tables, data sorting and filtering, and working with large datasets accurately
- Clear written communication in English - able to draft brief notes, summaries, and data outputs independently
- Good spoken communication - comfortable discussing data with team members and internal stakeholders
Good to Have
- Prior exposure to payroll processing, HR operations, or a finance/compliance support role
- Basic awareness of PF, ESI, and statutory bonus computation
- Familiarity with payroll software such as Keka or GreytHR is an advantage, but not required
- B.Com, BBA, or equivalent graduate; CA Foundation / Inter cleared is a plus
