Position Overview
Term: 6-month contract to hire
Location: Parkville, MO
Pay:$30.00-$45.00; commensurate with experience
Hours: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
We are seeking a Level 1 UI/UX Designer with hands-on experience using Figma to support the design and improvement of user-centric digital products. This role is ideal for an early-career designer who understands foundational UX principles and can translate user needs into intuitive, visually appealing interfaces. The designer will collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and business stakeholders.

User Research & Analysis
- Assist in gathering and analyzing user requirements, workflows, and behavior patterns to inform design decisions
- Support user research activities such as interviews, surveys, and usability studies
- Synthesize research findings into actionable insights
Design Process
- Create user personas, journey maps, and user flows to guide design decisions
- Develop low- to mid-fidelity wireframes in Figma
- Contribute to design system usage and UI consistency
UI / Visual Design
- Design and refine UI components including menus, navigation, forms, buttons, icons, and widgets
- Apply strong visual design principles including layout, typography, color, spacing, and accessibility
Prototyping
- Build interactive Figma prototypes to demonstrate functionality and user interaction
- Iterate designs based on feedback from stakeholders and users
Usability Testing
- Participate in usability testing sessions
- Document findings and collaborate on design improvements
Collaboration
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, product owners, and QA
- Incorporate feedback while maintaining user-centered design standards
What You Will Bring To The Team
- 1–3 years of experience in UI/UX design (internships, contract work, or professional experience)
- Strong working knowledge of Figma (wireframes, components, prototypes)
- Understanding of user-centered design and usability principles
- Ability to communicate design ideas clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Basic knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG fundamentals preferred)
- Portfolio demonstrating UX process and UI design work (academic or professional)
Nice to Have
- Exposure to usability testing tools or analytics
- Experience working in Agile or product-driven environments
- Familiarity with design systems and component libraries
