AI-Native Software Engineer (Junior / Mid-Level)

This is a 100% on-site position. You will work from our Bengaluru office in HSR Layout, every day. This is not a remote or hybrid role.

zMed builds critical care automation software for hospitals — ICUs, operating rooms, emergency units, tele-ICU command centers, and smart connected ambulances. We are headquartered at IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai, with our development center in HSR Layout, Bengaluru.

How We Work

We have completely moved to an AI-native development workflow. Our engineers harness Claude Code as an execution engine. Our CI/CD pipelines are AI-augmented. We don't measure you by lines of code you type — we measure you by the quality of your architecture, your design thinking, and the reliability of what you ship.

The AI writes code. You architect, design, direct, verify, and own the outcome.

What You'll Build

• Harness AI as your primary development tool — you will direct Claude Code to architect, build, and ship software. You will not write code line by line. You will design, direct, review, and own the output. Your value is your thinking, not your typing.
• Architect and develop clinical modules on a modern micro frontend platform with independently built and deployed components — following strict development contracts
• Build and extend microservices powering clinical workflows, intelligent forms, and real-time patient data using healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR R4, HL7)
• Design API contracts with enterprise-grade authentication, authorization, and multi-tenant isolation
• Work with AI-powered features including multi-provider LLM integration and healthcare-grade data privacy safeguards
• Contribute to AI-augmented CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployment workflows, and production infrastructure with monitoring and observability
• Work with shared component libraries and design systems for consistent UI across the platform
• Exercise diligent engineering oversight — everything that ships is your responsibility

• React, TypeScript, Node.js, and modern backend frameworks
• Micro frontend architecture and module federation

• Event-driven architecture and real-time data patterns

Interview Process

• Design Thinking up to three (30 min x3) — Architect a clinical component. No code — pure thinking.
• Live Build Session up to three (60 min x3) — Build with Claude Code. We watch your design thinking, diligence, and debugging grit.
• System Architecture up to three (45 min x3 ) — Deep conversation about distributed enterprise software systems. Comprehensive Design, Development and Deployment workflows.
• Attitude & Grit up to 2 (30 min x2) — How you work, learn, and push through hard problems.

We don't test memorized algorithms, or framework trivia
