Java Software Engineer- Top Secret/ SCI Clearance required- Herndon, VA

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Java Software Engineer to support a Government Consulting company located in Herndon VA through onsite work. The Java Software Engineer will provide Agile DevOps support for mission‑critical systems while developing, maintaining, and enhancing enterprise software, cloud environments, and operational tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software systems, tools, and applications within a DevOps environment
• Support the full software development lifecycle, including scoping, design, coding, testing, and implementation
• Deliver Agile DevOps support for mission‑critical and cloud‑based systems
• Contribute to the design, development, and testing of customer solutions
• Oversee operations and maintenance activities for essential systems

Qualifications

• Experience with Java and Python software development
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and methodologies
• Understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps)
• Background working within Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban)
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Active TS/SCI clearance required with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Poly

Preferred

• Full‑stack and web development experience
• Experience designing/documenting microservice‑based architectures
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
• Background in distributed systems
• Skills in debugging or testing web applications and services
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible)
• Understanding of security best practices (vulnerability scanning, penetration testing)

Compensation

• Salary: Up to $200,000, depending on experience

• Clearance Level: Must be eligible to work in the United States and maintain an Active TS/SCI security clearance
• Location: 100% onsite in Herndon, VA
