Network Security Engineer

Job Summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Network Security Engineer to join our team on-site in Arlington, VA. The Network Security Engineer will provide architectural, technical, and problem-resolution support for a Federal Agency’s network and security infrastructure. This role requires deep expertise in Palo Alto technologies, networking, and security solutions to ensure a secure, scalable environment aligned with customer requirements. The position involves designing, implementing, and maintaining network security systems, supporting both short-term and long-term strategies, and delivering operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain network security solutions using Palo Alto Firewalls, Panorama, and GlobalProtect.
• Provide Tier III “Build and Run” support across multiple network and security environments, including troubleshooting and configuration changes.
• Recommend technology improvements and security enhancements to align with Zero Trust principles and agency requirements.
• Participate in system upgrades, deployments, and enhancements while ensuring compliance with security policies.
• Deliver clear, concise technical documentation and communications to stakeholders.
• Support after-hours maintenance and critical infrastructure upgrades as needed.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of technical experience in Network/Security Engineering.
• Strong expertise with Palo Alto Firewalls (3200 and 5200/5400/5600 series), Panorama 9.x+, and GlobalProtect.
• Proficiency in advanced security features such as Threat Protection, URL filtering, TLS decryption, PKI, and PCAP analysis.
• Desired certifications: CCNP, CCDP, CCSP, CISSP, OSCP, PCNSE, PCNSA, ITIL.
• Experience with Palo Alto Prisma Access and Zero Trust Network Access solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.

Compensation

· Pay Range: $120,000-$130,000
