Role Overview As a Claims Handler, you will be responsible for managing and assessing property reinsurance claims. Your primary tasks will include ensuring timely investigation, evaluation, and settlement of claims in alignment with policy terms and treaty structures. You will need to coordinate effectively with cedants, brokers, loss adjusters, and reinsurers to facilitate efficient claim handling and accurate reporting. Key Responsibilities - Manage and process property reinsurance claims from the initial notification through to settlement. - Review treaty wordings, coverage terms, and policy conditions related to claims. - Coordinate with cedants, brokers, and reinsurers throughout the claim evaluation and settlement process. - Collaborate with appointed loss adjusters and technical experts during claim investigations. - Evaluate claim documentation such as loss reports, adjuster reports, and supporting evidence. - Prepare comprehensive claim summaries and recommendations for the management and underwriting teams. - Monitor claim developments, reserves, and settlement timelines. - Maintain precise claims records and ensure adherence to regulatory and reporting standards. Required Qualifications - Possess a degree in Insurance, Engineering, Risk Management, Business, or a related discipline. - Professional qualifications in insurance or loss adjusting would be advantageous. Experience Requirements - Have 3-5 years of experience in handling insurance or reinsurance claims. - Strongly prefer experience with property insurance or property reinsurance claims. - Exposure to large commercial or catastrophe-related claims would be beneficial. Preferred Skills - Demonstrated understanding of property insurance and reinsurance policy structures. - Proficiency in analyzing technical claim documentation and loss reports. - Excellent negotiation and communication skills for interactions with brokers, cedants, and reinsurers. - Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities. - Capable of working under deadlines and managing multiple claims concurrently. - Knowledge of KYC, client due diligence, and onboarding procedures within the insurance/reinsurance sector. - Competence in reviewing and validating client, cedant, broker, and counterparty documentation during onboarding. - Familiarity with AML, sanctions screening, compliance checks, and relevant regulatory requirements in insurance operations. - Experience in coordinating with internal compliance, underwriting, claims, and finance teams to fulfill onboarding requirements. - Strong attention to detail in maintaining accurate onboarding records and supporting documentation.
