Summary
As a fast-growing e-commerce company, our fulfillment network delivers thousands of packages to Yami customers every day. We are seeking a Senior Warehouse Operations Manager to lead the launch and ongoing operations of our new fulfillment center in Toronto. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the entire facility, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
This role is both strategic and hands-on. You will drive the initial site setup, establish high-performance teams, and implement operational plans that meet business goals in the most cost-effective manner. You will have significant leadership responsibility over multiple teams and warehouse functions within a highly collaborative environment.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Safety & Compliance:
- Lead efforts to maintain a safe, clean, and compliant working environment in accordance with company policies and Ontario regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario)
- Ensure compliance with the Employment Standards Act, 2000 (e.g., hours of work, overtime, rest periods)
- Establish and reinforce safety policies, procedures, and training programs to promote a safety-first culture
Fulfillment Center Operations
- Oversee all aspects of fulfillment center operations, including inbound/outbound logistics, inventory management, productivity, quality, scheduling, and maintenance
- Ensure operational targets are met while delivering a high-quality customer experience
- Maintain high standards of inventory accuracy and operational reliability
- Planning, Budgeting & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Manage budget planning and cost control initiatives
- Partner closely with HR and Supply Chain teams on headcount planning, workforce forecasting, and S&OP execution
- Conduct regular staff meetings, headcount reviews, and operational planning sessions to support scalability and business growth
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing warehouse organization, including supervisors and frontline employees
- Implement performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback, and performance reviews
- Drive training and development programs to enhance team capability, engagement, and retention
Process Optimization:
- Collect and analyze operational data; monitor KPIs on an ongoing basis
- Utilize Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, DMAIC, and Kaizen methodologies to identify root causes and implement process improvements
- Drive initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and eliminate defects and waste
- Lead large-scale improvement projects to optimize systems, workflows, and overall warehouse performance
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management (Advanced degree preferred).
- Experience: 5- 8+ years of management experience in warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, or e-commerce supply chain operations.Leadership: Proven experience leading large, diverse, multi-shift teams (30–200+ employees).
- Technical Skills: Expertise with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), performance metrics, and continuous improvement tools
- Analytical Ability: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to extract and analyze data to make data-driven decisions.
- Communication: Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin
- Local Expertise: Deep understanding of Canadian/Ontario warehouse safety regulations (OHSA) and labor laws (ESA) is required.
- Availability: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet business requirements
- Status: Must have legal status to work in Canada (No sponsorship).
Compensation Transparency: The anticipated salary range for this role is $85,000 – $115,000 CAD per year. Final salary offers are determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s specialized experience, skill set, and existing professional network in the local market.
