Job Description
We’re building a premium coffee brand and need a Brand & Packaging Designer to take our existing packaging design and carry it forward—creating a consistent brand system and expanding it across new products. This is not a UI/UX “product designer” role. This is CPG branding + packaging (print + physical products).
You’ll be our main creative—someone who can own packaging, brand consistency, and help us scale by creating templates, systems, and assets that make new product launches fast and clean.
What You’ll Do
- Continue and refine our existing coffee packaging design (not starting from scratch)
- Build a simple brand system (fonts, colors, layout rules, typography hierarchy) so everything stays consistent
- Create packaging variations for new roasts/flavors/SKUs using a master template approach
- Design brand assets for additional products (examples: stickers, inserts, labels, boxes, merch, web graphics)
- Prepare print-ready packaging files (dielines, bleeds, safe zones, CMYK/Pantone as needed)
- Export final deliverables: print-ready PDFs + editable source files (AI), organized by SKU/version
- Coordinate with printers/bag vendors: proofs, revisions, production specs, and sample ordering
- Help research and shortlist vendors (bags, labels, boxes) and compare quotes/MOQs/lead times
- Maintain a clean file system so future team members can plug in easily
What We’re Looking For (Must-Haves)
- Strong branding taste (premium CPG look) + clean typography
- Real packaging experience (pouches, labels, boxes—especially flexible packaging)
- Expert in Adobe Illustrator (required). InDesign/Photoshop a plus.
- Comfortable with print production: dielines, bleeds, layers, linked images, outlining fonts, prepress
- Can deliver organized, production-ready files that printers can use with minimal back-and-forth
- Portfolio that shows brand systems + packaging (not just logos)
Nice-to-Haves
- Coffee / food & beverage / retail shelf experience
- Barcode placement knowledge and basic packaging requirements (net weight, ingredient statement if needed, etc.)
- Experience creating packaging templates for multiple SKUs quickly
Deliverables You’ll Own
- Master packaging template files (AI) for fast SKU creation
- Print-ready PDFs for each SKU + editable source files
- A simple brand mini-guide (colors, fonts, spacing rules, layout grid)
- Product line extensions (stickers, inserts, boxes, labels, merch graphics)
First 30 Days (What “Success” Looks Like)
- Clean master template of the current bag design
- 1–2 new SKU extensions completed
- Vendor/printer shortlist with recommended next steps
- A simple brand guide + organized file structure
How to Apply
Please include:
- Portfolio link with packaging + branding examples
- 2–3 relevant packaging projects (flexible packaging preferred)
- Your hourly rate or retainer range + availability per week
- Confirm you can deliver print-ready files (dielines/bleeds/CMYK) and editable source files (AI)
Optional (helps you stand out): Tell us how you’d turn one existing bag design into a repeatable system for 10+ SKUs.
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
