Role Overview:
You will be part of the Metals & Mining Data team at Wood Mackenzie, collaborating closely with Research, Product, and Engineering colleagues. Your main focus will involve solving challenges related to data management, pipelines, analysis, and data quality. Attention to detail, collaboration, and problem-solving skills will be essential for the success of this role. Your core objective will be to manage and migrate workflows from legacy systems, delivering internal efficiencies through data and ensuring a supportive and inclusive team culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gain a deep understanding of customer data, existing landscape, and business processes, being the go-to person for data/product/business process-related queries.
- Lead initiatives on data quality, data integration, and data landscape transformation.
- Collect, extract, and compile data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness, and addressing data quality issues.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide timely and relevant reports.
- Bridge the gap between non-technical and technical users to understand and support their data modeling needs.
- Automate data ingestion, data cleansing, data warehouse, data lake, and data management concepts.
- Produce project artifacts such as meeting notes, mockups, process maps, and data flow diagrams to convey functionality to stakeholders and development teams.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience working as a Data Analyst.
- Proven experience in data discovery, data cleansing, validation, data flow, data engineering, and analysis.
- Creative, systematic, and logical approach to problem-solving.
- Experience in both cloud-based and on-premise platforms preferred.
- Strong communication skills for effective data and analysis communication.
- Proficient in SQL for querying databases, Python scripting language skills are a plus.
- Understanding of business analysis process concepts and implementation approaches.
- Knowledge of data modeling best practices, APIs, and web scraping.
- Experience in producing user stories, acceptance criteria, and test scenarios.
- Excellent writing skills for user guides and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in tools such as Jira, Confluence, or TFS for documenting and tracing requirements.
- Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Visio.
