Type III Wildland Firefighter - Kelowna / Kamloops

Applicant MUST have:

-S100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety or equivalent (annual recert S100A), and

-S185 Fire Entrapment Avoidance

Wolverine Wildland Firefighters are held to rigorous fitness standards as much of the job occurs in the outdoors. Firefighters perform the following duties:

• Responds to wildland fires
• Performs fire mop up duties, including but not limited to, checking for hot-spots, patrolling burned areas, using hand tools, pumps and/or hoses
• Interacts with other agencies in a professional and cooperative manner
• Performs under emergency conditions which may require strenuous exertion in the face of such handicaps as: smoke, high temperatures and steep terrain
• Provides Level 1 First Aid when needed
• Completes required reports and forms
• Drives fire apparatus to the scene
• Operates two-way radio
• Inspects and cleans equipment and PPE
• Performs daily and weekly maintenance of supplies
• Participates in frequent training sessions to maintain basic wildland firefighting skills, and to keep up-to-date on any new technical developments in the Fire Service

Requirements

• Minimum 19 years of age
• Physically fit - must be able to pass annual Fitness Test, moderate
• S 100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety or equivalent (annual re-currency S100A)
• S 185 Fire Entrapment Avoidance
• Available to work on-call for the summer season
• Work well with others
• Be able to travel within BC
• Work and camp in the outdoors

Job Type: Seasonal

Contract length: 4 months

Pay: $23.00-$32.00 per hour
