TikTok and Reels Video Editor & Content Creator

Location: Remote

Type: Contractor (Part-Time, ~20h/week, with potential to scale)

Reports To: Project Manager & Production Lead

Who Were Looking For

We're looking for a social-native video editor/ creator who lives on social media (TikTok and Reels), understands Gen Z culture, and instinctively gets the tone, pacing, and hooks behind content that performs. You're not an execution-only editor — you understand client strategy well enough to independently decide which edits to make, how to frame them, and why they'll work.

You can review interviews, face-to-camera content, podcasts, or archival footage and determine which moments should become edits without being given clip-by-clip instructions. You experiment with trends, understand what hooks an audience, and know how to make content feel fresh, relevant, and platform-native. You work fast, use effects intentionally, and can keep up with the pace of daily social production.

You're deeply tuned into how social formats evolve, especially founder-led and thought-leadership content. This isn't about chasing trends blindly, but about understanding what works and translating it into clean, compelling edits that feel both intentional and culturally fluent.

Key Responsibilities

Short-Form Video Editing

  • Turn long-form content (podcasts, interviews, Zoom calls) into native short-form clips for social media.
  • Edit TikTok and Reels content from interviews and time-sensitive moments, including same-day mobile-first edits when needed.
  • Independently identify strong editorial and viral moments, and execute them without clip-by-clip instructions, ensuring they feel made for the feed—not repurposed from YouTube.
  • Add captions, music, overlays, visuals, and transitions aligned with brand tone and platform trends, optimized for scroll-stopping 9:16 content.

Trend-Driven Content Ideation & Repurposing

  • Stay ahead with TikTok and Reels trends, formats, sounds, and editing styles.
  • Understand why content performs and apply those patterns intentionally.
  • Remix and repurpose existing content into new formats with clear hooks and narratives.
  • Propose edit ideas and formats aligned with the defined strategy and cultural context.
  • Source trending audio, meme references, and visual inspiration to elevate edits.

Creative Judgment & Brand Alignment

  • Understand and interpret each clients tone, voice, and positioning.
  • Edit in a way that enhances speaker delivery, emotional beats, and narrative arcs.
  • Identify standout moments and recommend the best format (Reel, Meme, Remix, etc.).
  • Ensure all edits stay aligned with brand pillars and creative direction.

Workflow & Delivery

  • Deliver 10–12 high-quality clips per week with fast turnaround.
  • Deliver same-day mobile edits for time-sensitive content when required.
  • Collaborate using ClickUp and Frame.io , maintaining clean naming, versions, and statuses.
  • Apply feedback quickly and iterate efficiently without friction.
  • Use AI tools (auto-captions, cut detection, highlight detection) to speed up workflows and improve output.

Founder Mode & AI-Immersed Editing

  • Act with ownership and initiative — propose edits and solutions without waiting for direction.
  • Collaborate closely with producers, designers, and strategists inside a structured production system.
  • Share trend insights, editing learnings, and platform observations with the team.
  • Continuously improve speed, consistency, and editorial judgment through tools and iteration.

What You Bring

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years editing short-form social video (TikTok / Reels / Shorts).
  • Deep fluency in TikTok culture, trends, and platform-native formats.
  • Boldness to experiment, innovate, and break formats when appropriate.
  • Strong creative taste, editorial judgment and storytelling instincts for short-form content.
  • Ability to independently decide what to edit, how to frame it, and why it will work.
  • Solid understanding of hooks, pacing, subtitles, transit
