Job Description
Under the general supervision of the SENIOR/charge technologist, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of Shared Health the General Duty Radiology Technologist – MRT performs assigned Diagnostic duties in accordance with their scope of training and experience. The General Duty Radiology Technologist – MRT assist radiologist in performance of radiologic procedures, assist with training and orientation of technologist, participates in instructing students, provides direct patient care, administrative and operational support functions required as part of the multi-disciplinary team approach of service delivery. As well as other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Patient care experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Graduate of an accredited school of Medical Imaging Technology.
- Successful completion of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists certification exam (CAMRT).
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Must be a member of CAMRT-MB and CAMRT in good standing.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must have the ability to start and establish IVs or commit to successfully completing the departmental Intravenous Certification Program within 3 months from the date of hire (site specific).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Physical Requirements
- Physical health to meet the requirements of the position and be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time without resting.
- Must demonstrate the use of safe and effective body mechanics while working with clients.
- Must be able to safely transfer large and/or heavy clients who may have limited or no weight bearing capabilities.
- Must be able to lift and position clients, some of whom are in a state of unconsciousness.
- May be exposed to radiation (within acceptable limits).
- May be required to occasionally work extended hours.
- May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress.
- May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients/visitors/staff.
- Must be able to push/pull portable equipment in a safe manner.
- May be required to work with provincial safety and health officer or other employees in the continuous development of safe work practices/place.
This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement.
