Job Description
** This is an onsite role, 5 days a week with weekends as needed. Experience with Food Manufacturing is required and Relocation assistance is available*** The Manufacturing Cost Accountant also known as the Manufacturing Business Analyst reports to the Facility Team Leader and works closely with the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Specialist and will conduct cost and efficiency analysis and provide solutions to ensure all financial aspects of the ERP system are well-integrated, accurate, and support the company's overall financial goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage the financial complexities and regulatory requirements specific to a US Department of Agriculture (USDA)-certified food manufacturing facility.
- Develop and maintain cost accounting systems and procedures to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of production costs.
- Provide input on financial requirements and cost accounting processes to ensure the ERP system is configured to meet company financial reporting and analysis needs.
- Collaborate with the ERP Specialist to ensure accurate data entry and validation within the ERP system, including precise product costing, inventory levels, and transaction records.
- Partner closely with Accounting and Finance teams to ensure cost control functions are executed in accordance with company standards and policies.
- Conduct regular audits and reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial data and ensure it aligns with production and procurement records and reflects accurately in reporting.
- Prepare financial reports, including variance analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and profitability analysis.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and support decision-making for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Partner with department heads to develop cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and submit financial reports required by regulatory bodies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory rules and standards, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), USDA, State Department of Agriculture, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Food Safety and Modernization Act (FSMA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Department of Labor, Health and Sanitation regulations, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Weights and Measures.
- Establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationships with Store Support teams and Operational Areas supported by Facility Leadership.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field OR a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, or similar preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of USDA regulations and standards related to a food plant preferred.
- Understanding of financial compliance and reporting requirements for regulatory bodies.
- Intermediate computer skills; proficiency in select Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); and ability to learn custom applications.
- Strong understanding of ERP and accounting processes within a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of financials and Profit & Loss (P&L) statements.
- Ability to conduct detailed financial analysis and provide actionable insights.
- Experience in preparing budgets and forecasts.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively to various stakeholders.
- Ability to build strong partnerships with key stakeholders including Team Members, customers suppliers, and regulators.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:

- Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
- Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
- Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators), >90 degrees Fahrenheit.

The wage range for this position is $79,040.00-$135,200.00 Annual, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers "Whole Benefits".
