Job Description
Junior Biologist/Environmental Scientist:
Western Water Assoc iates Ltd. is seeking a Junior Biologist/Environmental Scientist to join our existing team in Vernon BC. The successful candidate will work with our Senior Biologist and other staff to provide biological and other field services to our client base of engineering consultants, municipalities, first nations, and industry. Our company sets itself apart by providing a very different experience from the usual corporate consulting entity. WWAL has three offices in Victoria, Vernon and Prince George, staffed with highly motivated and experienced professionals. We provide services in hydrogeology, terrestrial and aquatic biology, environmental impact assessments, permitting, and environmental monitoring.
Who we are looking for:
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in biology and environmental science, along with a desire to become part of the community that supports their livelihood. They will be comfortable completing fieldwork across British Columbia while maintaining positive, professional relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and other project partners. Experience with biophysical assessments and environmental science is preferred, along with confidence working outdoors in a variety of field conditions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in biology, freshwater science, or equivalent
- 0-5 years post-graduation experience in a consulting environment
- A solid background in environmental assessment, environmental monitoring, and fisheries assessment
- Ability and willingness to work in adventurous locations across BC
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Professional registration or eligibility to register with the BC College of Applied Biology or other professional designation is an asset.
- Valid Canadian drivers licence
This position begins as a temporary seasonal position, with the potential for transition into full-time employment
