Position Overview
Western Community College is looking for a creative and skilled In-House Videographer & Video Editor to support our Marketing & Communications team.
This role is focused on capturing and editing engaging video content for social media, program marketing, student stories, campus life, events, and institutional communications.
We are looking for someone with a strong eye for visuals, clean editing skills, and the ability to turn real moments into polished, engaging videos. The ideal candidate should be comfortable filming people, capturing b-roll, editing short-form content, and supporting basic professional video needs such as interviews, testimonials, and event coverage.
This is a hands-on creative role for someone who enjoys filming, editing, storytelling, and working with a collaborative marketing team.
Key Responsibilities
Video Capture
- Film video content for social media, website, advertising, events, program promotions, and internal communications.
- Capture students, faculty, staff, classes, labs, events, campus life, interviews, and behind-the-scenes moments.
- Shoot both casual social-style videos and more polished camera-based content.
- Capture strong b-roll, clean audio, and visually appealing shots.
- Support basic lighting, framing, and audio setup for interviews and talking-head videos.
- Help identify interesting visual moments during shoots.
Video Editing
- Edit short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, LinkedIn, and other digital platforms.
- Edit longer or more polished videos such as testimonials, program videos, event recaps, and interview clips.
- Add captions, music, b-roll, basic graphics, transitions, and on-screen text.
- Create videos with clear pacing, strong hooks, and clean visual flow.
- Prepare videos in the correct formats for social media, websites, presentations, and ads.
- Organize video files, raw footage, project files, and exports.
Social & Marketing Support
- Work with the Social Media Lead and marketing team to bring content ideas to life.
- Support regular content creation around student life, campus activities, programs, events, and community stories.
- Adapt videos for different platforms while keeping the College’s brand consistent.
- Suggest creative video ideas based on what is happening across campuses and programs.
- Help build a consistent video presence for the College across digital channels.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience filming and editing video content.
- Strong portfolio or video samples showing both filming and editing ability.
- Good understanding of framing, lighting, audio, camera angles, and shot composition.
- Proficiency with video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or similar.
- Ability to edit videos with captions, music, b-roll, text, and clean pacing.
- Comfortable filming real people in real environments.
- Able to work on multiple video projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
- Interest in social media content, storytelling, and brand-building.
Nice to Have
- Experience creating content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or LinkedIn.
- Experience filming interviews, testimonials, events, or promotional videos.
- Basic photography skills.
- Basic knowledge of motion graphics or branded video templates.
- Experience working in education, marketing, communications, or a similar environment.
