Payroll Specialist (Permanent) - Montreal.

This role is onsite and requires fluency in English and French.

The Payroll Specialist supports payroll services, day-to-day employee relations, and HR processes at a local site, reporting to senior HR leadership.

The position offers a competitive base salary and the opportunity to work with a dynamic and innovative organization.ResponsibilitiesManage full-cycle payroll processing for designated employee groups across multiple regions, ensuring timely and accurate executionHandle payroll updates, including new hires, salary adjustments, incentives, commissions, leaves, terminations, and deductionsAdminister equity-related compensation programs (e.g., share plans), including tracking, reporting, and payroll implicationsPerform payroll reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues efficientlySupport payroll activities across different jurisdictions, ensuring proper data handling and compliancePrepare required payroll documentation such as employment records, year-end tax forms, and audit materialsAct as the main contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees and internal stakeholdersEnsure payroll data aligns with HR records, including contracts, promotions, and benefits changesWork closely with finance teams on reporting, accruals, and payroll-related financial processesContribute to improving payroll workflows, controls, and documentationCoordinate with external vendors and support payroll system updates, testing, and issue resolutionAssist with payroll readiness for new regions as the organization expandsMaintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and compensation dataHuman Resources (Supporting Focus)Serve as a local HR contact for employees, addressing questions and concernsSupport onboarding activities, including documentation and system setupProvide guidance on HR policies, compensation, and benefits inquiriesAssist with recruitment coordination, including screening and schedulingSupport employee lifecycle activities such as role changes, exits, and documentation updatesEnsure adherence to provincial employment regulations and internal policiesCollaborate with the broader HR team to maintain consistency across processes and initiativesQualifications3+ years of experience in payroll processing, ideally supporting multiple regionsSolid understanding of Canadian payroll practices and compliance requirementsExperience working with payroll/HR systems (any modern platforms)Fluency in both English and French is requiredGeneral understanding of HR operations and employee lifecycle processesStrong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential informationEffective organizational and problem-solving skillsComfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-priority environmentWork EnvironmentFull time schedule (Monday to Friday)Some flexibility may be needed during peak payroll cycles or deadlinesWe thank all candidates in advance.
