User Experience (UX) Designer

Position Overview

We are looking for a talented and experienced UX Designer to join our client, an innovator in the Lifesciences AI space. This hybrid role in Tarrytown, NY or Basking Ridge, NJ (3 days onsite/week) requires someone who can design and lead the user experience and engagement strategies for key digital platforms including the Enterprise Data Portal and COVID Dashboard.

Key Responsibilities

• Solution Design & Architecture:
• Collaborate with business leaders, product managers, developers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into design.
• Conduct usability testing, stakeholder interviews, and other user research methods to gain insights into user needs and behaviors.
• Work with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, constraints, and opportunities, ensuring designs are both feasible and effective.
• Create and present clear, persuasive design solutions to stakeholders, highlighting the impact on user experience.
• Develop modern, visually appealing UI designs that are intuitive and aligned with the latest trends.
• Leverage qualitative research and data to support design decisions.
• Produce wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and other deliverables that document the design process.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the latest design tools and methodologies, particularly Figma.
• Document and present architectural options and their pros & cons to senior IT leadership.
• Design Leadership:
• Lead the UX design process from concept to completion.
• Collaborate with developers, AI specialists, and product managers to create a cohesive user experience.
• Develop and maintain design guidelines, best practices, and standards.
• User Research and Testing:
• Conduct research to understand the needs, behaviors, and pain points of diverse users including end users, developers, and AI evangelists.
• Perform usability testing and gather feedback to continuously refine the user experience.
• Interaction Design:
• Design intuitive, interactive user interfaces for both chatbot and web platforms.
• Ensure that chat and web interfaces adapt based on user interactions.
• Develop strategies to enhance user engagement and satisfaction.
• Monitor and analyze user engagement metrics to identify areas for improvement.
• Prototyping and Wireframing:
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups to effectively communicate design ideas.
• Iterate on designs based on user feedback and testing results.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with the development team to ensure design fidelity during implementation.
• Communicate design concepts and solutions clearly to stakeholders and team members.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in UX design.
• Proven experience designing and shipping high-utility mobile or desktop applications.
• Working knowledge of usability testing methodologies and stakeholder interviewing techniques.
• Expert understanding of user-centred design principles and best practices.
• A portfolio showcasing modern user interface designs and interactions.
• Strong ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
• Proficiency in leveraging research and data for design recommendations.
• Expert-level proficiency in Figma and related design tools.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with scientific business & IT leaders or with pharma/biotech organizations.
• Undergraduate or graduate degree (or diploma) in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a UX Designer, UX Lead, or in a similar role.
• Strong portfolio showcasing UX design skills and projects.
• Familiarity with design tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, or similar.
• Experience with user research and usability testing.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to think critically and solve complex design problems.
• Experience in agile or iterative design processes.
• Familiarity with front-end development (HTML/CSS) is a plus.
