Job Summary The Granite Mining Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all quarry and mining operations related to granite extraction, processing coordination, safety compliance, statutory obligations, workforce management, machinery utilization, and production targets. The role ensures efficient and economical extraction of granite blocks while maintaining quality standards, environmental compliance, and adherence to mining laws and regulations.

The Mining Manager shall supervise day-to-day quarry activities including drilling, wire saw cutting, excavation, loading, transportation, waste management, mine development, and dispatch coordination to achieve optimum productivity and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Mine Planning & Development

• Prepare short-term and long-term mine development plans.
• Ensure scientific and systematic extraction of granite blocks.
• Design quarry benches, haul roads, drainage systems, and dumping yards.
• Monitor overburden removal and granite recovery percentage.
• Plan drilling and cutting patterns for maximum recovery and minimum wastage.
• Coordinate with geologists and surveyors for reserve estimation and mine planning.
• Ensure proper development of quarry faces for safe operations.

2. Production Management

• Achieve daily, monthly, and annual production targets.
• Monitor granite block extraction quantity and quality.
• Optimize recovery ratio and reduce operational losses.

• Ensure proper segregation of export-quality and domestic-grade blocks.

3. Statutory & Legal Compliance

• Ensure compliance with:
• Mines Act
• Metalliferous Mines Regulations (MMR)
• DGMS guidelines
• Environmental regulations
• State mining department rules
• Pollution Control Board norms
• Maintain valid mining permits, licenses, and statutory registers.
• Coordinate inspections with

• Ensure timely submission of statutory returns and reports.
• Maintain mine plans, environmental clearances, and consent documents.

4. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

• Implement mine safety management systems.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and hazard assessments.
• Ensure use of PPE by all employees and contractors.
• Organize safety training and toolbox talks.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.
• Implement emergency response procedures.
• Monitor slope stability and safe bench height.
• Ensure safe blasting practices (if applicable).
• Control dust, noise, and water pollution.
• Promote zero-accident culture at the quarry.

5. Machinery & Equipment Management

• Monitor operational efficiency of mining machinery.
• Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance.
• Ensure availability of spare parts and consumables.
• Optimize fuel consumption and machine utilization.
• Maintain equipment logbooks and maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs and overhauls.

6. Workforce & Contractor Management

• Supervise mining engineers, supervisors, operators, and laborers.
• Allocate manpower efficiently across quarry operations.
• Monitor contractor performance and compliance.
• Ensure discipline and productivity at site.
• Conduct training programs for operators and workers.
• Maintain labor attendance and shift schedules.
• Handle industrial relations and workforce grievances.
