Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior SCCM / Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) Engineer with deep expertise in large-scale Windows OS upgrade initiatives. This role focuses on designing and executing enterprise-grade Windows 10 → Windows 11 upgrades across complex environments with thousands of endpoints.

The ideal candidate is a Task Sequence expert who can architect scalable, resilient, and zero-touch deployment solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Windows OS Upgrade Leadership

• Lead enterprise-wide Windows OS upgrade programs (10k+ endpoints)
• Design and execute In-Place Upgrade (IPU) strategies
• Manage upgrade lifecycle: planning, pilots, phased rollout, and cutover
• Ensure compliance with security, identity, and endpoint standards

SCCM Task Sequence Architecture (Expert Level)

• Design and maintain advanced SCCM task sequences for:
• In-place upgrades
• Bare metal / refresh scenarios
• Implement:
• Pre-flight validation checks
• Conditional logic & dynamic branching
• Error handling and rollback strategies
• Optimize for scale, resiliency, and performance

Application & Driver Readiness

• Manage application compatibility testing & remediation
• Implement driver management strategies (dynamic injection, fallback logic)
• Ensure business-critical apps survive OS upgrades

SCCM Infrastructure & Operations

• Manage SCCM components:
• Distribution Points (DPs), Management Points (MPs), SUPs
• Optimize:
• Content distribution
• Boundaries & collections
• Troubleshoot using logs, SQL data, and telemetry

Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

• Build dashboards for upgrade success/failure tracking
• Use telemetry for continuous improvement
• Develop runbooks and documentation

Leadership & Collaboration

• Act as technical SME for endpoint engineering
• Mentor junior engineers
• Collaborate with security, service desk, and program teams

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of SCCM / MECM experience
• Proven experience managing large-scale OS upgrades (10k+ endpoints)

Expert in:

• SCCM Task Sequences (IPU focus)
• Windows 10 / 11 deployment
• Troubleshooting & logging
• Strong PowerShell scripting skills
• Experience in enterprise environments

Preferred Skills

• SCCM + Intune (Co-management)
• Windows Autopilot
• Endpoint security (BitLocker, Defender, EDR)
• Experience in global / managed services environments
