Veterinary Care Assistant

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate Veterinary Care Assistant to join us at Romford Vets for Pets. We’re a thriving 24-hour practice with a well-established team including 13 Vets, 17 RVNs, 7 SVNs and 12 Receptionists across two practices based in Romford and Romford Gallows. Our spacious surgery is purpose built to industry-leading standards and has state-of-the-art equipment including 2 dedicated operating theatres, ultrasound, in-house laboratory and digital radiographs. We also have a full endoscopy unit, access to CT in one of the branches and are continually looking to invest in the best to improve the services that we can offer to our clients. Our location offers free on-site parking as well as fantastic transport links into central London in just 25 minutes and out to the Essex countryside within 20 minutes.

Responsibilities

• Keep the clinic clean, tidy, and organised.
• Feeding and monitoring in-patients.
• Running clinical tests.
• Managing stock.
• Handling a variety of small animals.
• Helping set up for operations.
• Deep cleaning all areas.
• Speaking to clients on the phone and in person.

Requirements

• Good verbal communication skills and basic computer literacy are essential.
• Some previous experience in animal handling.
• A team player who is willing to get involved, work hard, and is keen to learn.
• Ability to work full time; 40 hours per week with 1 in 4 full weekends and occasional night shifts to cover holidays and sickness.
• There will be a mixed rota working from Romford Vets for Pets and Romford Gallows Vets for Pets.
