Job Title: Pipe Fitter

Location: Glen Burnie, MD

Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Pipe Fitter:

#1. Must have the ability to read and understand P&ID and orthogonal drawings.

#2. Must have the ability to layout pipelines including changes in elevation, direction & flow.

#3. Must have understanding of plans, specifications, P&IDs, and ISOs.

#4. No more than 3 jobs in the past 10 years.

Responsibilities of the Pipe Fitter:

  • Experience running piping through active industrial production facilities is required.
  • Experience working with butt weld and socket weld systems, up to and including 8" diameter steel pipe.
  • Ability to interpret plan view and elevation view drawings to understand the project.
  • Understand P&ID (Process and Instrument Diagrams) and can coordinate installation of valves and instruments as shown on the drawings.
  • Ability to generate isometric drawings for fabrication in a shop environment for installation in the field. This includes proper take-offs and cut lengths, generated from field measurements, plan view drawings and P&IDs.
  • Ability to field route piping where appropriate and required by the client.
  • Working with welded, threaded, Victaulic piping, carbon, and stainless steel.

Requirements of the Pipe Fitter:

  • Flexibility to travel between projects on a daily and/or weekly basis.
  • Flexibility to work in both clean (food-grade) and dirty (recycling facilities) environments.
  • Willing to work at least 40 hours per week (Mon Thu on a 4-10's schedule or Mon- Fri on a 5-8s schedule), with the flexibility to work overtime as required. Some night shift may be required, which is dependent on client needs.
  • Availability to work Night and Day, 12 Hour Shifts when client requests.
  • Flexibility to work outside of your trade.
  • Flexibility to travel between DC, Baltimore and Aberdeen, MD.
  • 2-5 Years previous construction experience, preferably as a Mechanical Contractor or Prime Contractor in an industrial environment.
  • Understanding of plans, specifications, P&IDs, and ISOs.
  • Familiarity with ASME codes & standards for compliance.
  • Self-Starter Ability to work alone on a project, and as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable transportation with active driver's license
