About UPS & Our Culture

Healthcare supply chains are the most compliance-intensive, most time-critical, and most life-consequential logistics environments on earth — and UPS Healthcare is the dedicated division built to serve them. Our Healthcare Logistics Specialists manage the end-to-end cold-chain and regulatory compliance requirements for pharmaceutical manufacturers, hospital systems, clinical trial sponsors, and medical device companies that ship temperature-sensitive, DSCSA-regulated, and GDP-compliant products through the UPS global network. If you are searching for healthcare logistics jobs near me that develop specialized pharmaceutical cold-chain expertise, EU Good Distribution Practice knowledge, and FDA supply chain regulatory skills that travel across the entire life sciences logistics industry, UPS Healthcare is the most professionally sophisticated healthcare logistics environment available to logistics professionals in the U.S. market.

What Our Team Says (Employee Reviews)

"Healthcare logistics at UPS is genuinely specialized work. I manage cold-chain shipments for three pharmaceutical manufacturers — two with GDP-certified lane requirements and one running a Phase III clinical trial that ships investigational medicinal products under 21 CFR Part 312 import protocols. The regulatory depth I have built in this role is not available anywhere else in the market at my experience level. UPS Healthcare pays a meaningful premium over standard logistics roles, the work is consequential in a way that motivates me every day, and the career path into life sciences supply chain management is well-defined." - Current Healthcare Logistics Specialist, Little Rock, AR.

Role Overview & Responsibilities

As a UPS Healthcare Logistics Specialist, you manage the shipment planning, temperature monitoring, regulatory documentation, and exception management for pharmaceutical, biologic, and medical device shipments moving through UPS Healthcare's GDP-compliant cold-chain network — ensuring every shipment meets product-specific temperature requirements, chain-of-custody documentation standards, and applicable FDA, EMA, and ICH Q10 quality system requirements.

  • Cold-Chain Shipment Planning: Develop lane-specific cold-chain shipping plans for pharmaceutical customers — selecting the correct UPS temperature-controlled packaging system (Cryoport express shipper, Softbox Pegasus Advance, or Peli BioThermal Chronos series) based on product temperature specification (2-8°C, 15-25°C, or -20°C to -80°C), shipping lane exposure profile, and transit time — validating the selected packaging configuration against lane qualification study data before authorizing the packaging for customer deployment.
  • DSCSA Compliance Management: Ensure all pharmaceutical product shipments moving through the UPS Healthcare network comply with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) serialization and tracing requirements — verifying that Transaction Information (TI), Transaction History (TH), and Transaction Statement (TS) documentation accompanies each product transfer, and escalating any product without a valid DSCSA package-level identifier to the customer's regulatory affairs team before the shipment is inducted into the UPS network.
  • Temperature Excursion Management: Respond to temperature excursion alerts generated by Sensitech TempTale or Berlinger ELPRO data logger devices placed in active shipments — pulling the excursion data report, evaluating the time-temperature exposure against the product's Mean Kinetic Temperature (MKT) stability specification, and coordinating with the customer's QA team to initiate the product quarantine and disposition assessment process within the four-hour excursion response window required by the customer's quality agreement.

Benefits & Perks

UPS Healthcare Logistics Specialists receive a premium salary reflecting the specialized regulatory and cold-chain expertise the role requires, full medical, dental, and vision benefits, a 401(k) with company match, paid vacation, and UPS's support for IATA DGR certification, IQPC cold-chain professional development, and APICS CSCP supply chain credentialing. The life sciences regulatory knowledge built in this role creates advancement pathways into UPS Healthcare account management, quality compliance management, and global cold-chain network design leadership.
