Responsibilities

• Assembly, installation, modification, and repair of all pipes and plumbing systems.
• Maintain and upgrade plumbing equipment and piping.
• Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on plumbing‑related equipment.
• Install and repair various plumbing equipment such as water heaters, drinking fountains, toilets, sinks, and other fixtures throughout the facility.
• Report to the Shift Operating Engineer and coordinate work with other trades.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8+ years relevant experience and a high school diploma or GED.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances (HSPD, Secret; preferred HSPD‑12, Secret Active).
• Certified or licensed in pipefitting, steam fitting, or sprinkler systems and hold a valid journeyman plumber’s license.
• Master’s plumber’s license issued by Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission is preferred.
• Backflow certification is highly preferable; otherwise must be willing to obtain within 90 days of employment.

Abilities & Physical Requirements

• Lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to load, unload, and operate equipment, and assist in transporting materials.
• Work at various heights up to 60 feet, including scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
• Perform repetitive tasks such as walking, climbing, walking, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
• Have good vision (may be corrected) and the ability to see in color, hear, and communicate in English.
• Use a standard ladder without exceeding weight limits while carrying tools.
• Recognize issues that may arise and recognize that something is wrong.
• Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
• Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions.
• See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
• Listen to and understand information presented through spoken words and sentences.

Pay Range

USD $38.00 - USD $44.75 per year.
