S – Courses: July 1- August 31, 2026

Duties
All normal duties related to the design, administration, and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course material; supervision of teaching assistants assigned to the course, if applicable; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculations and submission of grades to university officials; holding regular office hours, and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact. Candidates are required to travel to UTM to carry out duties unless indicated as online delivery mode.

Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I - $9,820.70 inclusive of 4% vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer I - Long Term: $10,510.03 inclusive of 6% vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II - $10,510.03 inclusive of 6% vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer II - Long Term: $10,760.27 inclusive of 6% vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III - $10,760.27 inclusive of 6% vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term $11,030.35 inclusive of 6% vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

A study of theories in communication and meaning with different reference to advertising, advertising messages, and advertising management.

LEC0101 Tuesdays and Thursdays 11am-1pm (day/time subject to change)
Anticipated Enrolment: 40
Qualifications: Ph.D. in a relevant discipline and or demonstrated excellence teaching and advanced technological skills are required. Must have completed a graduate degree specific to the subject matter. Experience in teaching a similar topic at the undergraduate level is required. Record of research that reflects the subject matter. Ability to meet deadlines and work well under time constraints are required.
CCT477H5S UX Design - Understanding Users
The focus of the course is on understanding the experiences of users and their communities as affected by their interaction with digital technologies in information-centric societies. Students will learn the theoretical framework and practical aspects of advances user-centered design principles (such as participatory design and techno-centric ethnographies). This course represents an opportunity for students to enrich their understanding of the deep interconnections between human factors, human needs, interactive technologies, information, as projected on several dimensions: cultural, societal, ergonomic, and economic.

PRA0101 Mondays and Wednesdays 6-9pm (day/time subject to change)
Anticipated Enrolment: 40
Estimated TA support: 45 hours
Qualifications: Ph.D. in a relevant discipline and or demonstrated excellence teaching and advanced technological skills are required. Must have completed a graduate degree specific to the subject matter. Experience in teaching a similar topic at the undergraduate level is required. Experience and ability to supervisor teaching assistants are also required. Record of research that reflects the subject matter. Ability to meet deadlines and work well under time constraints are required.
CCT481H5S Augmented Places and Social Media Spaces
Increasingly we are seeing a hybridization of information and location, where media provide a framework or environment for users (participants) to construct reality and relationships. The course explores emergence of new ubiquitous communication practices and the increasingly pervasive use of technology for the augmentation of people, places, and objects. In this course, students will explore various approaches to context-based information systems, and the shaping of social media spaces.
