United Way of Wyoming Valley is entering a new phase of growth, and we’re looking for a leader who wants to build it with us. We are seeking a Chief Development Officer (CDO) to lead and evolve our revenue strategy. This is an opportunity to build, lead, and scale something meaningful.
The Role:
The Chief Development Officer will lead all aspects of revenue generation – working closely with the CEO, leadership team, development staff, board members, and community leaders to grow support and expand impact. This is a highly visible leadership role that will shape how United Way generates and sustains funding for the future.
What You’ll Own:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive, diversified revenue strategy
- Identify and pursue new opportunities for funding, partnerships, and expansion
- Align revenue efforts with organizational priorities and community impact
Revenue Streams & Development
- Lead and grow all major revenue streams, including corporate and workplace partnerships, individual and major gifts, grants and institutional funding, and event sponsorships and strategic partnerships
- Strengthen pipeline development, forecasting, and performance tracking
- Continuously evaluate and evolve revenue approaches to support long-term growth
Relationships That Matter
- Build and deepen relationships with corporate partners, donors, and community leaders
- Partner closely with the CEO on high-level engagement and major gift strategy
- Support and engage volunteer leadership and key stakeholders
- Lead and inspire an energized, mission-driven development team
- Continue a culture of enthusiasm, ownership, and shared success
- Set clear expectations while building a positive, high-performing environment
- Coach and develop team members to grow in confidence, relationships, and results
Who You Are
You’re a relationship builder, a strategic thinker, and someone energized by growth and results. You may come from nonprofit development or from sectors like:
- Banking or financial services
- Corporate partnerships
What matters most is your ability to build trust, drive revenue, and lead with confidence. You bring energy, presence, and a positive leadership style that motivates others. You know how to build a team that is not only effective but excited about the work.
What You Bring:
- 7–10+ years of experience in fundraising, sales, partnerships, or related fields
- Experience working across multiple revenue streams (philanthropy, partnerships, grants, or sponsorships)
- Proven ability to grow revenue and build strong relationships
- Demonstrated ability to build, motivate, and lead high-performing teams
- Confidence working with executives, boards, and community leaders
Compensation
Competitive salary range in the $90,000–$95,000 range, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
