Sports, Media & Entertainment Officer
This position is responsible for cultivation, analysis, renewal and expansion with new and existing sports, media and entertainment partners to raise revenue and awareness in support of USO programs and services.
Responsible Duties
- Manage a portfolio of assigned sports, media, and entertainment partners, leading and managing all development, growth, stewardship, support and renewal activities related to assigned key alliances and philanthropic partnerships, meeting or exceeding established annual goals.
- Manage and oversee contract creation, execution, fulfillment and associated logistical support for assigned sports, media, and entertainment accounts, ensuring all terms and conditions are clearly defined, understood, and approved prior to execution and/or renewal.
- Analyze and understand the business climate and operational health for assigned sports, media, and entertainment accounts, identifying, facilitating, leveraging and optimizing short‑ and long‑term opportunities for continued revenue and in‑kind support.
- Collaborate with USO Marketing & Communications to direct the creation and execution of integrated campaigns, events and activations that leverage sports, media and entertainment partnerships for measurable impact and mutual benefit.
- In partnership with the Director, Sports, Media & Entertainment, conduct market research and monitor industry trends to identify new partnership, sponsorship and co‑branding opportunities that strengthen the organization’s presence in the sports, media and entertainment landscape.
- Maintain and organize contact lists, actions, proposals, reports and other records in fundraising software database.
- Prepare sponsor stewardship reports, including partnership deliverables from key stakeholders.
- Represent the organization at scheduled sponsor events, tradeshows and conferences as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or related field.
- 5+ years progressively responsible experience in corporate fundraising/development or business‑to‑business sales; experience in a not‑for‑profit, military, multicultural and/or global organization preferred.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to negotiate, interpret and fulfill contract terms and agreements. Writing samples may be requested.
- Strong interpersonal, customer service and problem‑solving skills; ability to interact with USO leadership, the public and military audiences with integrity and professionalism; ability to manage and influence external vendor relationships.
- Proficiency using computers and electronic equipment; general knowledge of software, applications and programs including Microsoft Office Suite and constituent relationship management software. Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment with controversial and/or culturally sensitive subjects and handle confidential information with tact and poise.
- Initiative, self‑motivation and attention to detail with ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities.
- Collaborative teamwork and ability to achieve desired results.
- Basic business and accounting functions such as project management and budget reconciliation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials for access to USO Center locations, including security, credit/background screening, SOFA status and valid driver’s license.
- Strong advocacy for the USO mission.
