Role Overview:
As an Assistant Research Scientist in the Advanced Materials team at Unilever, your main responsibility will be to bring leading-edge science to the innovation of the next generation of Clean Future products. You will be contributing to Unilever's mission of setting new standards in product superiority and sustainability in the home care industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- **Materials Expertise:** Utilize comprehensive knowledge in surface, interfacial, and colloids science to develop material leads and technical solutions for future cleaning. Stay updated with the latest research in the field.
- **Hypothesis Development:** Independently formulate and test hypotheses to enhance Home Care formulations through chemical interactions understanding.
- **Experimental Design and Execution:** Design and conduct experiments, collaborate with formulation and materials development team to convert insights into opportunities.
- **Capability Building:** Guide junior chemists in interfacial, colloidal science, and formulation chemistry, while continuously upgrading your own knowledge.
- **Internal Collaborations:** Work with AMSS platform leads and other S&T teams to convert new materials into commercially viable propositions.
- **External Collaboration:** Establish relationships with external experts in formulation chemistry and material synthesis.
- **Program Management:** Assist in managing external research programs related to Home Care formulations.
- **Data Analysis and Presentation:** Analyze data, focus on detergent components' interaction and performance, proficient in digital models and tools.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelors degree in chemical engineering or masters in chemistry with 5+ years of experience in Formulations & Interface Science.
- Deep domain expertise in colloids interfacial science, phase behavior, material chemistry, and function of formulations.
- Proven track record of converting technical problems into hypotheses and developing consumer and commercially viable propositions.
- Strong skills in interfacial phenomena, stains forensics, ingredient interactions, metal ion chelation, structured data capture, technical communication, and collaborative ecosystem management.
