Field Service Engineer – Power Quality (Canada & US Travel)
The Opportunity
We are supporting a growing organisation operating at the forefront of renewable energy and advanced power solutions. With a strong presence across North America, the business delivers innovative technologies across power quality, energy storage, and grid infrastructure.
As part of their continued expansion, they are looking to appoint a Field Service Engineer – Power Quality to join their technical services team. This is a customer-facing role offering the opportunity to work on complex and impactful energy projects across Canada, with occasional travel to the United States.
The Role
This role sits within a specialist technical services team responsible for delivering high-level engineering support across power quality and wider electrical infrastructure. The position is predominantly field-based, involving regular travel to customer sites, with additional remote and office-based responsibilities.
You will support the full lifecycle of power quality systems, from installation and commissioning through to maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out on-site installation, configuration, commissioning, and maintenance of power quality systems.
- Investigate system events, diagnose faults, and deliver effective troubleshooting solutions
- Interpret project specifications, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
- Plan and execute service activities efficiently to meet customer and business expectations
- Produce detailed service reports, technical documentation, and procedures
- Deliver product demonstrations and provide technical training to customers
- Maintain clear communication with internal teams, customers, and subcontractors
- Conduct jobsite hazard assessments and lead site safety briefings
- Support remote monitoring and technical support functions, including coordination with wider support teams
About You
We are keen to speak with candidates who have strong experience within electrical power systems and are comfortable working in a field-based, customer-facing role.
You will have:
- experience within the industrial, commercial, or utility power sector
- Hands-on experience with power quality, HV/MV systems, or related electrical equipment
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical drawings
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented approach
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (preferred)
- Eligibility to work in Canada
Desirable:
- Knowledge of power quality standards (e.g. IEEE 519 or similar)
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, networking, and remote monitoring technologies
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel extensively (typically 2–3 weeks per month) across Canada
- Occasional travel to the United States for project work and training
- Full driving licence
- Strong commitment to health & safety and safe working practices
