Job Description

Reingold is seeking a temporary, part-time UI Design Director to lead the UI workstream across multiple projects within the Digital Experience department. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hands-on leader with deep expertise in interactive and UI design, as well as a passion for mentorship. The role involves guiding teams to deliver user-centered design solutions and staying current with industry trends and technologies.

Essential Functions

• Oversee the UI workstream of projects from concept through delivery, interpreting requirements and directing designers.
• Provide feedback and guidance on UI work products and project deliverables.
• Demonstrate mastery of user-centered design practices and deep proficiency in Figma.
• Apply knowledge of responsive and mobile design principles to ensure consistency across deliverables.
• Anticipate and solve complex project issues, proactively identifying risks and driving solutions.
• Collaborate with developers, UX designers, content strategists, and digital project managers.
• Partner with teams outside the Digital Experience department for cohesive client work.
• Champion best practices around new tools and technologies within the UI discipline.
• Provide input on AI technology integration into the interactive design workflow.
• Stay current with industry trends and technological advancements.
• Consult on business development solutions and contribute to budget estimates for project scoping.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in UI/visual design with increasing leadership responsibilities.
• 3+ years of experience managing or mentoring designers.
• Expert proficiency in Figma, including component libraries and design tokens.
• Knowledge of responsive design and building/maintaining design systems at scale.
• Strong understanding of user-centered design methodologies.
• Experience working within Agile frameworks and cross-functional teams.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and drive resolution.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• A portfolio demonstrating high-quality user interface design work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an agency environment.
• Working with clients in the public sector including Federal and local government.
• Champion of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
• Hands-on experience with AI-powered design tools.
• Experience contributing to business development efforts.
• Knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks).

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have direct reports but is expected to mentor junior teammates and lead by example.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
