About the Role

We are seeking a warm, patient, and engaging French tutor for a Grade 2 student attending a full French school (not immersion). The student needs individualized support to strengthen literacy and math skills and to build overall academic confidence and development in a French-language environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions focused on foundational French literacy (reading, writing, comprehension) and mathematics.
• Reinforce key classroom concepts, ensuring understanding in both oral and written French.
• Use interactive, age-appropriate activities to support language development, focus, and learning engagement.
• Identify and address areas of learning difficulty, adapting teaching methods to the student’s learning style.
• Communicate regularly with parents and/or the Tutor Doctor team about progress and next steps.

Qualifications

• Fluency in French (native or near-native level) — excellent spoken and written communication skills.
• Experience tutoring or teaching early elementary students (Grade 1–3 preferred).
• Understanding of early literacy and numeracy development in French.
• Ability to create a positive, encouraging learning environment.
• Teaching degree, Early Childhood Education, or related background is an asset.

Schedule:

• 1–2 sessions per week (each 60 minutes), flexible scheduling based on tutor and family availability.
• Tutoring to take place in-home at the student's location.
