Assistant Manager - Restaurant

Responsibilities

• Assist the Restaurant Manager in overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations, including food preparation, service, and staff management
• Supervise and motivate team members to deliver outstanding customer service and uphold brand standards
• Manage shift operations efficiently by coordinating staff schedules, ensuring proper coverage during peak hours
• Oversee food handling, safety protocols, and cleanliness to ensure compliance with health regulations and food safety standards
• Control inventory levels through accurate stock management, ordering supplies as needed to minimize waste and control costs
• Handle cash transactions accurately using POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS, including cash handling and reconciliation
• Train new staff members on food service procedures, POS usage, customer interaction, and safety protocols
• Support kitchen management by supervising food production processes and ensuring timely delivery of orders in a quick service or casual dining environment
• Assist with budgeting, cost control, and implementing promotional initiatives to enhance restaurant profitability
• Foster a positive team environment through effective communication, conflict resolution, and ongoing training & development

Qualifications

• Proven experience in restaurant management or supervisory roles within quick service, fast food, casual dining, or fine dining settings
• Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and food safety standards
• Hands-on experience with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS; proficient cash handling skills
• Demonstrated leadership skills with previous supervising or team management experience
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle challenging situations professionally
• Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of inventory control practices and food industry regulations
• Experience with staff training & development programs and interviewing potential team members
• Hospitality management background preferred; hotel or catering experience is a plus
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in kitchen management and food production processes
