Mobile Tech Lead

Job Title: Mobile Tech Lead – Ionic

Location: Onsite 5 days WFO (Virginia Tyson )

Experience: 8–12+ years

Role Overview

We are seeking a Mobile Tech Lead with strong hands-on expertise in Ionic framework and

native mobile integrations to support the PenFed mobile platform. The ideal candidate will

lead development efforts, mentor junior engineers, ensure security best practices, and work

closely with backend and integration teams.

This role requires strong experience with Ionic + Capacitor, secure mobile development, and

integration with AWS, MuleSoft, and Salesforce-based backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

 Lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise mobile applications using the

Ionic framework

 Implement and maintain Capacitor plugins, including official, community, and third-

party SDK integrations

 Collaborate with backend teams to integrate mobile applications with AWS services and

MuleSoft APIs

 Implement secure communication with backend systems via proxy services

 Ensure code-level security practices across the mobile application stack

 Implement mechanisms to detect jailbroken/rooted devices and enforce mobile security

policies

 Ensure proper handling and protection of Personal Identifiable Information (PII)

within mobile applications

 Guide and mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews, and promote development

best practices

 Work closely with product teams and architects to support international/out-of-country

usage scenarios

 Participate in technical design discussions and contribute to architecture decisions

Mandatory Skills

 Strong hands-on experience with Ionic Framework (ionic.io) – must have

 Experience developing and integrating Capacitor plugins

o Official plugins

o Community plugins

o Third-party SDK integrations

 Experience integrating mobile apps with backend services (AWS or similar cloud

platforms)

 Experience working with MuleSoft APIs or proxy-based API integrations

 Solid understanding of Salesforce integrations and enterprise CRM ecosystems

 Strong knowledge of mobile application security, including:

o Secure coding practices

o Encryption

o Secure API communication

 Experience implementing jailbreak/root detection mechanisms

 Strong experience handling sensitive user data / PII compliance
