Job Description
A Service Advisor Trainee supports the service department by assisting customers, learning service operations, and developing the skills needed to become a fully qualified Service Advisor. This entry-level role focuses on customer service, communication, and basic automotive knowledge while working under the guidance of experienced service advisors and technicians. The trainee acts as a liaison between customers and the service team to ensure a positive service experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service
- Greet customers promptly and professionally upon arrival
- Listen to customer concerns and accurately document vehicle issues
- Provide basic explanations of service procedures and timelines
- Maintain a friendly, respectful, and customer-focused attitude
Service Coordination
- Assist in opening and closing repair orders
- Schedule service appointments and follow up with customers
- Communicate repair status updates between technicians and customers
- Support the preparation of service estimates and invoices
Learning & Development
- Learn dealership/service center policies, procedures, and systems
- Develop knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repairs, and warranties
- Shadow experienced service advisors to understand best practices
- Participate in training sessions and on-the-job learning
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate customer and vehicle records
- Handle basic data entry and filing tasks
- Ensure service documentation is complete and organized
Team Support
- Work closely with service advisors, technicians, and parts staff
- Assist with maintaining a clean and organized service area
- Follow safety standards and company guidelines at all times
Skills & Qualifications (Typical)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills
- Willingness to learn automotive systems and customer service practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Valid driver’s license (often required)
