Our team works at the intersection of perception, planning, systems engineering, and safety, ensuring that autonomous behavior is thoroughly tested across a wide range of real-world and edge-case scenarios before deployment.</p> <p data-section-id="1uboqym" data-start="213" data-end="234"><strong data-start="216" data-end="234">What You’ll Do:</strong></p> <p data-section-id="1uboqym" data-start="213" data-end="234">As a Senior Simulation Test Engineer, you will contribute to the development and execution of scenario-based validation strategies, leveraging simulation to evaluate system performance, identify gaps, and improve overall robustness. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across autonomy, systems, and safety to ensure that simulation insights translate into meaningful improvements in the real-world behavior of our vehicles.</p> <ul data-start="594" data-end="1337"> <li data-section-id="bu0xoo" data-start="594" data-end="712">Contribute to the planning and execution of simulation-based test campaigns for autonomous vehicle V&amp;V efforts</li> <li data-section-id="fybyb6" data-start="713" data-end="823">Collaborate with Product, Systems, and Safety teams to support simulation-driven validation strategies</li> <li data-section-id="1v1tn3f" data-start="824" data-end="962">Develop, maintain, and expand Torc’s Scenario Library, including Abstract, Logical, and Concrete scenarios to improve ODD coverage</li> <li data-section-id="19yu36k" data-start="963" data-end="1072">Identify testing gaps and propose improvements to simulation tools, environments, and test frameworks</li> <li data-section-id="1hg81nz" data-start="1073" data-end="1190">Partner with internal tools teams and external vendors to enhance simulation and virtual testing capabilities</li> <li data-section-id="1wp6322" data-start="1191" data-end="1337">Perform analysis and triage of simulation results, including development of dashboards and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders</li> </ul> <p data-section-id="1vjkm6e" data-start="1344" data-end="1378"><strong data-start="1347" data-end="1378">What You’ll Need to Succeed</strong></p> <ul data-start="1380" data-end="2325"> <li data-section-id="w3f3ye" data-start="1380" data-end="1550">Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years of experience in Computer Science, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or related field</li> <li data-section-id="jmryab" data-start="1551" data-end="1653">Experience with simulation and virtual testing of perception and/or autonomous driving systems</li> <li data-section-id="1mqzfes" data-start="1654" data-end="1774">Experience developing scenarios aligned with OpenSCENARIO standards, including Abstract and/or Logical scenarios</li> <li data-section-id="1545aqw" data-start="1775" data-end="1855">Experience developing test cases and test procedures for complex systems</li> <li data-section-id="lily9o" data-start="1856" data-end="1954">Proficiency in Python scripting and YAML, including data analysis and automation workflows</li> <li data-section-id="1ckbufs" data-start="1955" data-end="2039">Strong experience with system-level debugging, fault isolation, and analysis</li> <li data-section-id="9ardhh" data-start="2040" data-end="2090">Proficiency working in a Linux environment</li> <li data-section-id="wqf2fr" data-start="2091" data-end="2150">Working knowledge of probability and linear algebra</li> <li data-section-id="1dnhesc" data-start="2151" data-end="2239">Ability to communicate test results clearly and collaborate effectively across teams</li> <li data-section-id="1gli7o" data-start="2240" data-end="2325">Familiarity with state-of-the-art approaches to autonomous vehicle validation</li> </ul> <p data-section-id="2357y7" data-start="2332" data-end="2351"><strong data-start="2335" data-end="2351">Bonus Points</strong></p> <ul data-start="2353" data-end="2658"> <li data-section-id="1d89d2z" data-start="2353" data-end="2422">Experience in automotive or safety-critical system validation</li> <li data-section-id="cgjbh" data-start="2423" data-end="2524">Experience developing or validating sensor models, traffic models, or vehicle dynamics models</li> <li data-section-id="rwu9uv" data-start="2525" data-end="2577">Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System)</li> <li data-section-id="1vkgivf" data-start="2578" data-end="2658">Experience mentoring junior engineers or contributing to team best practices</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work Location: </strong>For this position, we are open to hiring in Ann Arbor, MI (U.S.) office work locations in a hybrid capacity.
