Position Overview The Shipping member will perform tasks relating to shipping operations and complete shipping transactions accurately and in a timely manner to maximize customer service, effectiveness and efficiency.

Key Accountabilities

• Preparation of outbound shipments (loading, verifying, recording outgoing merchandise, and arranging for the transportation of merchandise)
• Negotiation rates with freight company by internet portal or phone
• Shipping of LTL, FTL, parcel and E-Commerce
• Maintaining a safe work environment and reporting all maintenance or safety issues requiring corrective action
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment

Required Strengths

• Counterbalance Forklift Experience (Valid License preferred)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• Prior experience in warehousing/logistics (preferably in distribution), especially with shipping operational functions
• Experience with 3rd party shipping methodologies (FedEx, UPS, freight scheduling and shipping, etc.) is a plus
• Basic computer skills are required
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve discrepancies with a high sense of urgency to meet deadlines
• Ability to multi-task and process orders in a timely manner
• Must be customer service oriented, good communication and people skills, and maintain a positive, professional relationship with all personnel at all times
• Must be a self-starter driven quality and customer service commitment

Qualifications

• Minimum two years shipping experience in a distribution environment,
• Customer Service experience
• Knowledge of Courier systems (UPS, Purolator, FedEx, Transport, Customs forms, etc.)
• Valid Forklift Certificate preferable
• Ability to handle pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Strong organization and communication skills
• Exceptional work ethic
• Availability to work overtime as needed
• Able to lift up to 50lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
