Job Description
As a Welder, you are responsible for welding metal components together to form a final product that is dedicated to the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry. To excel in this role, a combination of a strong understanding of welding techniques and an eye for detail to produce the highest quality welds.
Location: 141 Consolidated Drive, Paris, ON
Dedicated Afternoon Shift: 2:30pm - 1:00am, Monday - Thursday
Shift Premium: $3.00 per hour for afternoons
Job Duties
- Read and follow technical drawings and blueprints to understand the welding requirements for each product
- Ensure proper materials are selected for each job to weld together metal components
- Follow safety protocols and wear the prescribed personal protective equipment to prevent injuries
- Operate lifting devices such as cranes (overhead and/or jib), to complete large welding jobs
- Inspect welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications
- Ensure welding machines are properly calibrated
- Repair and rework welds as needed
- Communicate with supervisors to ensure production schedules are met
Skills & Experience
- Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands, and deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
- Required to read and interpret welding blueprints, drawing specifications, procedures, and work instructions
- Assembly welding tasks require collaboration with team members, effective communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to make sound decisions when working on projects that involve multiple team members
- Physical requirements include standing, climbing, kneeling, and bending while welding
- Extreme temperature exposure to weather changes (heat)
Qualifications
- Knowledge of fabrication processes including fitting with the assistance of a fixture and welding
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
