Job Description
As the Material Handler / Parts Picker, you will help manage the flow of goods by unloading shipments and organizing materials in designated storage areas. Additionally, you will also load outgoing shipments onto trucks, inspect materials for damage or defects, and report any issues. You will be in close communication with various departments within the organization.
Location: 140 Consolidated Drive, Paris, ON
Dedicated Afternoon Shift: 3:30pm - 2:00am, Monday - Thursday
Shift Premium: $3.00 per hour for afternoons
Job Duties:
- Safely and efficiently move raw materials and finished products between departments, maintaining the flow of production
- Perform daily inspection of material handling equipment (eg, forklift, walkie), and report any minor or major damage to the equipment
- Organize and maintain 5S in storage areas both within the plant and outside
- Review paperwork to locate parts and transport them to departments throughout the plant
- Follow written directions and interpret schedules, shipping documents, and drawings
- Communicate with project managers and supervisors to understand production schedules
Skills and Experience:
- Adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands and be able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Effective organization, problem-solving, and time management skills
- Keen attention to detail, an outstanding work ethic and the ability to multi-task
- Physical requirements include driving (90%), standing, and climbing
- Understanding of MRP/ERP systems are an asset
- Potential exposure to weather changes (hot, cold, wind, rain, etc.) when working outside
Qualifications
- Important skills include communication, problem-solving, and organization
- Previous experience operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, pump carts, and walkies
- Prior experience in warehousing or logistics an asset
