Backend / Full-Stack Engineer (PHP Preferred)

TicketGateway is a Toronto-based event ticketing platform serving Caribbean, soca, carnival, and urban events across Canada, the US, and the Caribbean. With over 2 million monthly visitors, we power ticketing for some of North America's largest cultural events — including Toronto Caribbean Carnival (Caribana).

Our tech team builds and maintains the platform behind it all: ticketing infrastructure, payment integrations, event scanning apps, and organizer-facing tools.

The Role

We're looking for a mid-to-senior Full Stack PHP Developer with a strong backend focus to join our Nagpur office.

You'll build features end-to-end across our ticketing platform — APIs that power the buyer flow, services that handle inventory and order state, and the integrations that connect us to payment processors, email/SMS providers, and partner systems. This is a hands-on builder role on a small team; you'll work closely with our head of engineering and ship every week.

What You'll Work On

• Build and maintain backend services for ticketing, orders, and customer-facing flows
• Ship features end-to-end — design, implement, test, deploy
• Consume and integrate third-party APIs (payment processors, email providers, analytics, AI Tools)
• Write clean, tested code that other engineers will read and extend
• Debug production issues that touch multiple systems
• Participate in code reviews and design discussions

What We're Looking For

• 3–5 years of professional PHP development experience
• Strong MySQL / MariaDB skills — schema design, query optimization, indexing
• Comfortable building and consuming REST APIs
• Familiarity with payment gateway integrations (Stripe, or similar) is a plus
• Experience
• Comfortable working across the full stack when needed
• Clean, maintainable code habits
• Self-directed — able to take a task and run with it
• Familiarity with relational databases and writing reasonable SQL
• Experience with at least one front-end framework (React preferred) — full-stack candidates welcome

Nice to Have

• Experience with CodeIgniter or similar PHP frameworks
• Experience implementing AI Tooling
• Exposure to fraud prevention or e-commerce transaction logic
• Experience with event-driven or high-concurrency systems

Compensation & Details

• Salary: 80,000 - 100,000 Rupees per month
• Type: Full-time, permanent
• Location: On-site, Nagpur
• Reports to: Head of Engineering
