Position Overview
Our client is an established Ontario-based real estate lending and investment firm with almost 40 years of experience in construction and commercial mortgage financing focused on infill residential development, industrial, and commercial construction lending. Its long-standing presence in the Ontario market has been built on strong developer relationships, repeat clients, and consistent execution. In addition to direct lending, the firm manages pooled mortgage investment funds, providing qualified investors with access to private mortgage opportunities.
As the firm continues a sustained expansion, they are seeking a Vice President to drive their origination strategy across Ontario. This senior leader will be responsible for driving new business development, strengthening strategic relationships, and continuing to build a high-performing origination function.
This role is a compelling opportunity for a seasoned business developer with deep construction financing experience to take on a leadership mandate and play a meaningful role in the firm’s continued evolution.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of the firm’s real estate debt origination strategy across Ontario.
- Source and close high-quality lending opportunities across construction and land including first and second mortgage structures.
- Maintain a strong and consistent origination pipeline aligned with the firm’s credit philosophy and risk parameters.
- Cultivate and deepen relationships with developers, owners, brokers, and capital partners.
- Represent the firm as a trusted and solutions-oriented capital provider in the market.
- Collaborate closely with internal credit and investment teams to ensure underwriting discipline and portfolio quality and maintain strong risk management standards and portfolio oversight.
- Partner with executive leadership to refine go-to-market strategy and identify new areas of expansion.
Desired Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in construction finance or commercial mortgage lending.
- Demonstrated success originating and closing construction and commercial mortgage transactions.
- Strong network of developer, broker, and capital partner relationships within Ontario.
- Deep understanding of underwriting, credit risk, valuation, and structured real estate finance.
- Leadership experience building and managing high-performing teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate strategically within a growth-focused environment.
- Professional designations such as CFA, CPA, or MBA are considered strong assets.
Please note that at present, legal eligibility to work in Canada is a prerequisite for this role.
