Software Developer (AI-Enabled)

Thinking BIG is looking for two experienced software developers to join a delivery team in Charlottetown building modern, production-grade applications. You will be working across the full stack (backend services, frontend interfaces, databases, and cloud infrastructure) in a fast-moving environment where AI tools are a core part of how the work gets done.

This is not a research or data science role. We are looking for developers who write good code, ship working software, and have made AI-assisted development tools a genuine part of their workflow to accelerate the development process.

What You Bring

• 5 or more years of experience as a software developer in a full-stack or broadly scoped role
• Proficiency in one or more of: Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, or C#
• Comfort working across the stack — APIs, databases, frontends, and cloud deployments
• Active use of AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot to move faster and write better code
• Some hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs or AI services into applications
• A track record of delivering clean, well-documented, production-ready software

These roles sit within Thinking Big, a Charlottetown-based technology company that has been helping clients solve real business problems with digital technology since 2006. With 85 people and nearly two decades of client work behind us, we have a strong track record of delivering solutions that are as practical as they are innovative — always with people at the centre of the design.

We are actively investing in AI-enabled delivery as part of how we work and what we build for clients. These positions are part of that commitment — an opportunity to work at the front of that shift with a team that takes the craft seriously.

Day to day you will be developing and deploying AI-enabled applications under the guidance of a senior Application Architect, building and maintaining backend services and APIs, contributing to frontend interfaces, managing database schemas, and supporting cloud deployments on Azure. You will be expected to use AI development tools throughout and to help the team move quickly from prototype to production.

Location and Terms

This is a hybrid role based in Charlottetown, PEI with 3 to 4 days per week onsite. The initial contract is 11 months with an option to extend. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Candidates must be Canadian citizens who have lived in Canada for at least 5 years and are able to obtain a Government of Canada security clearance. Existing clearance is an asset.
