Job Description

The Swift Group is looking for a Data Scientist with experience in Social Network Analysis to support a dynamic program in McLean, VA working with classified media. You will work with a team of developers, architects, and data scientists to build new capabilities for our client, bringing innovative ideas to challenging and complex problems. You will query and structure data, apply algorithms to develop models, create metrics and data visualizations, and deploy visualization products to web-based environments. As a Data Scientist, you will have a strong background in technology, the ability to structure data for reporting, and a strategic view for how to present analytic results to customers. This position will be responsible for presenting and explaining complex results to users.
Responsibilities
- Apply expertise in social network analysis to identify and research new quantitative and qualitative methods that help solve complex problems and communicate findings to customers
- Support decision making through the creation of analytics, Python scripts, Jupyter Notebooks, or other appropriate analytical methods
- Develop and apply models, leverage software tools, and generate visualizations using Tableau or other data visualization platforms to address business process challenges
- Query databases using SQL with structured data and perform statistical analysis in support of client needs
- Contribute written content on tools and methods to products developed by other team members
- Think strategically about how to publish data visualizations and present analytic results to a variety of audiences
- Support business decisions with ad hoc analysis and present findings in a clear, accessible manner
Requirements
- Coding experience, specifically with Python and Pandas
- 3 years of experience using data sources from industry, academia, the IC, the military, and/or the scientific community
- 3 years of experience discovering, organizing, and structuring data and applying advanced analytic techniques, such as mathematical modeling, geospatial analysis, and applications of graph theory
- 3 years of experience using Python, R, or other coding languages and developing and evaluating algorithms and methods
- Experience with data manipulation, analytic papers or report writing, and subject matter briefings, slides, and graphic products
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong relationship and network building skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
- US citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required
Desired Experience
- Experience with Social Network Analysis (SNA) or graph theory
- Experience in advanced analytics such as social network analysis or mathematical modeling
- Demonstrated experience with Jupyter Notebooks and Python data science libraries
- Experience with Tableau or other data visualization tools
- Familiarity with geospatial analysis tools and techniques

Pay Range: $49,996.80 - $290,004.00
Pay ranges are a general guideline and not intended as a guaranteed and/or implied final compensation or salary for this job opening. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several different factors including, but not limited to: level of position, complexity of job responsibilities, geographic location, work experience, education, certifications, Federal Government contract labor categories, and contract wage rates.
