Job Description

Junior Video Editor & Project Administrator

The Practical Approach | Full-Time | Remote / Hybrid | Canada & US Travel Required

ABOUT US

Practical Approach Consulting is a Canadian-based management consulting firm specializing in manufacturing operations improvement. We work on the ground with some of North America’s leading manufacturers — streamlining processes, driving continuous improvement, and building long-term operational value for our clients. Our work is fast-paced, high-impact, and deeply visual. We capture our methodologies and project stories on video, and we’re building a content engine to match the quality of what we deliver.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Junior Video Editor & Project Administrator to join our growing team. This is a dual-purpose role: roughly 60% of your time will be hands-on video editing, and the remaining 40% will support project administration and general office operations.

On the video side, you’ll work closely with our senior producer to take raw footage captured by our field team and shape it into polished, sequenced edits — getting each video to the “80% mark” where the story is clear, the flow is right, and the rough edges are cleaned up. From there, our senior producer takes it home.

On the admin side, you’ll support our ownership group and project teams with coordination, scheduling, document management, and day-to-day office needs. This is a role for someone who’s organized, proactive, and genuinely wants to be useful.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Ingest and organize raw video files from field recordings — naming, folder structure, and backup protocols
  • Perform rough cuts: sequence footage, trim for pacing, sync audio, and flag key moments for senior review
  • Apply basic colour correction, stabilization, and audio levelling to a consistent standard
  • Collaborate with our senior producer via regular check-ins to align on vision, feedback, and revisions
  • Maintain a project tracker for all active video edits including status, deadlines, and version control
  • Support project administrators with document preparation, client-facing materials, and scheduling
  • Assist the ownership group with correspondence, travel arrangements, and meeting prep
  • Occasionally travel to client sites or our headquarters to support on-site footage needs

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • 1–3 years of video editing experience (school projects, freelance, and internships all count)
  • Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve
  • Strong sense of visual storytelling and pacing — you know when a cut feels right
  • Organized and methodical with files, naming conventions, and version management
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple projects in a remote environment
  • Clear communicator — written and verbal — who takes and applies feedback well
  • Passport-ready and willing to travel occasionally within Canada and the United States
  • Post-secondary education in film, media arts, communications, or a related field is an asset
  • Genuine interest in the business and manufacturing world is a plus

BONUS POINTS

  • Experience with motion graphics or lower-thirds in After Effects or Premiere
  • Familiarity with project management tools (Asana, Notion, Monday.com, or similar)
  • Experience supporting an executive or leadership team in any capacity
  • A portfolio showing range — interviews, process walkthroughs, or documentary-style content

WHAT WE OFFER

  • A genuine learning environment with direct access to senior leadership and a hands-on producer mentor
  • Exposure to real business operations at some of Canada’s most interesting manufacturing companies
  • Flexibility: remote-first with on-site opportunities when it matters
  • Competitive entry-level compensation with a growth trajectory tied to your contribution
  • A small, tight-knit team where your work is visible and your growth is taken seriously
  • Travel opportunities across Canada and the US
