Video Journalist

About the Role

The New Indian Express is looking for a dynamic and creative Video Journalist to join our digital team in KannadaPrabha.com in Bengaluru. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced newsroom environment and has a strong eye for storytelling through video. You will be responsible for producing engaging Kannada video content across platforms, including news reports, explainers, and short-form reels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Shoot, edit, and produce high-quality video content for digital platforms
• Create compelling short-form videos and reels optimized for social media
• Write clear, concise, and engaging scripts for video stories
• Collaborate with reporters, editors, and the digital team to conceptualize video content
• Stay updated with trending formats and audience preferences to drive engagement
• Handle end-to-end video production, including ideation, scripting, filming, editing, and publishing
• Ensure accuracy, editorial standards, and journalistic integrity in all video outputs

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 3–6 years of experience in video journalism, digital media, or a related field
• Proficiency in video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, or similar software
• Strong understanding of visual storytelling, pacing, and content structuring
• Experience in editing short-form content and reels for social media platforms
• Ability to write scripts and translate complex news into engaging video narratives
• Familiarity with camera operations, lighting, and audio recording
• Fluency in Kannada (spoken and written) is mandatory
• Basic understanding of digital publishing and social media analytics is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines
