Loon Foundation Job Posting – Digital Communications and Marketing Coordinator
Location: Remote or hybrid. Organization based in ḵalpilin (Pender Harbour), Sunshine Coast, BC
Start Date: Planned June 1, 2026 (subject to grant funding confirmation)
Term: Approximately 11 months. Extension may be possible depending on future funding availability.
Hours & Wage: 20-hour work week at $30/hour
Job Description: The Loon Foundation is seeking creative applicants for the position of Digital Communications and Marketing Coordinator to lead digital storytelling, outreach, and audience engagement across its conservation, environmental monitoring, youth STEM education, and stewardship programs. A key focus of this role is supporting the development of the Pacific Ocean Discovery Station (PODS), a net-zero coastal research and education facility being developed in partnership with shíshálh Nation. The position combines content creation, communications strategy, and digital engagement across social media, websites, video, email communications, and impact reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a digital communications and marketing strategy to build public awareness and support for the Loon Foundation’s programs and PODS
- Create digital and print materials, including infographics, graphics, and promotional content
- Manage social media channels and content across multiple platforms
- Produce short-form video content for digital storytelling and outreach
- Write and produce email newsletters for external audiences
- Manage and update Loon Foundation and PODS websites, ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Develop digital content tailored to different audiences, including visitors, donors, funders, partners, and researchers
- Support digital fundraising, donor engagement, and campaign communications for the PODS capital campaign
Desired Qualifications: The candidate must have a post-secondary degree or diploma in communications, media production, graphic design, computer science, information technology, environmental science, or a related field. Ideally, the candidate will have knowledge or experience in some or all of the following:
- Graphic design and visual communication, including use of design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
- Social media management and digital content creation
- Website content management (e.g., WordPress or similar platforms)
- Video production and editing
- Email marketing and newsletter platforms
- Data visualization and impact reporting
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences
- Interest in environmental conservation, sustainability, and climate change
Eligibility: This position will be partly funded through the Digital Skills for Youth program. Eligible candidates must be aged 15–30 years, be recent post-secondary graduates (typically within the past three years), and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee status, and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
