Position Description: System Admin

Experience: 3+ Years

Location: 9th Block, Jayanagar, Bengaluru

Position Overview

A system administrator is responsible for keeping an organization's computer systems and network infrastructure functioning smoothly, secure from threats, and readily accessible to its users. They play a vital role in ensuring that the technology within the organization remains reliable and efficient.

Skills & Required criteria:

-Bachelors degree in computer science, IT, or other related field

-Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role

-Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management

-Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery

-Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms

-Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude

-Excellent communication skills

-At least two years of experience in troubleshooting the network issues

-Strong work history in developing and implementing network best practices

-Proven work experience in managing the complex network infrastructure

-Collaborate and work with the team to bring out effective solutions for networking issues

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • System Maintenance and Monitoring:

Ensure the availability and reliability of IT systems, networks, and servers.

Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and troubleshoot issues promptly.

Perform routine system updates and patch management to keep systems secure and up to date.

  • User Account Management:

Create and manage user accounts, including permissions and access controls.

Implement and enforce security policies, password policies, and user authentication mechanisms.

  • Backup and Recovery:

Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.

Regularly back up critical data and test restoration procedures to ensure data integrity.

  • Security Management:

Implement security measures to protect systems and data.

Install and configure firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.

Investigate security incidents and develop strategies to prevent future breaches.

  • Software Installation and Configuration:

Install, configure, and maintain software applications and services as needed.

Ensure compatibility and integration of software within the IT environment.

  • Hardware Management:

Maintain and upgrade hardware components such as servers, storage devices, and network equipment.

Troubleshoot and replace faulty hardware components as necessary

  • Network Administration:

Configure and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, and access points.

Optimize network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.

  • Documentation:

Create and update documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Ensure that documentation is comprehensive and up-to-date.

  • Capacity Planning:

Assess system performance and resource utilization to plan for future growth.

Recommend hardware and software upgrades as needed to accommodate changing requirements.

  • Compliance and Policy Enforcement:

Ensure that systems and practices comply with industry regulations and organizational policies.

Implement security and access control policies as required.

  • Troubleshooting and Technical Support:

Provide technical support to end-users and resolve IT-related issues.

Diagnose and address system failures and outages in a timely manner.
