Job Description

Job Title: L1 Production Support Engineer – Banking Application

Location: Navi Mumbai (Candidates residing in Navi Mumbai preferred)

Employment Type: Full-time

Role Overview:

We are seeking an L1 Production Support Engineer to support a mission-critical banking application operating in a 24x7 production environment. The role involves monitoring application health, performing first-level troubleshooting, supporting application deployments, and ensuring smooth operations across integrated middleware and database components. The candidate will work closely with application support, infrastructure teams, and banking clients to maintain high service availability and SLA compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Support & Monitoring

  • Provide Level 1 (L1) production support for banking applications in a 24x7 support model with rotational shifts and week offs.
  • Monitor application health, logs, queues, and alerts to ensure system availability and performance.
  • Perform initial troubleshooting and incident triaging for application or infrastructure issues.
  • Escalate incidents to L2/L3 teams where required with proper analysis and documentation.
  • Track and update incidents in ticketing systems while ensuring adherence to SLAs.

Release & Deployment Support

  • Assist in deployment of application releases and patches in UAT and Production environments.
  • Validate deployments and ensure application functionality post-release.
  • Maintain deployment checklists and documentation.

Disaster Recovery & Operational Readiness

  • Participate in Disaster Recovery (DR) drills and failover testing.
  • Support DR execution activities and validate application readiness.

Documentation & Communication

  • Maintain runbooks, operational procedures, and incident reports.
  • Provide timely updates to stakeholders during incidents or production issues.
  • Ensure clear communication with internal teams and banking clients.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of Oracle Database and SQL queries.
  • Understanding of Web Application Servers (preferably IBM WebSphere Application Server) or similar middleware platforms.
  • Basic knowledge of IBM MQ / messaging systems is desirable.
  • Must be comfortable working on AIX/Linux platform.
  • Familiarity with log analysis and production monitoring.

Domain Knowledge (Preferred)

  • Exposure to banking systems.
  • Knowledge of Sanctions Screening systems or SWIFT messaging will be an advantage.

Soft Skills

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment

  • 24x7 production support environment with rotational shifts and week offs.
  • Interaction with banking clients and internal technical teams.
  • Opportunity to work on enterprise banking systems and middleware technologies.

Experience

  • 2–3 years of experience in Application Production Support / Technical Support preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Any graduate with technical background.
