Who We Are

Monarch Preschool College Park is an affiliate of The Children's Guild and Tran Zed Alliance — one of the most experienced child-serving nonprofit organizations in the Greater Baltimore/Washington region. Located in Prince George's County, Maryland, our preschool provides a nurturing, play-based, and trauma-informed early childhood experience for children ages 3–5, including those with diverse developmental and learning needs.

The Opportunity

As a Lead Preschool Teacher, you will be the heart of your classroom — creating a safe, joyful, and developmentally rich environment where young children can explore, discover, and grow.

  • Support children with diverse developmental needs, including those with IEPs, through individualized instruction and accommodations
  • Observe and document child development, progress, and learning to inform instruction and communicate with families
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with families through regular communication, conferences, and family engagement activities
  • Collaborate with assistant teachers, special educators, therapists, and support staff as part of the classroom team
  • Implement trauma-informed, culturally responsive teaching practices that honor each child's background and experience
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized classroom environment in compliance with Maryland Child Care Administration licensing requirements
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and program-wide initiatives

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (required)
  • Maryland Child Care credential or CDA (Child Development Associate) certification preferred
  • Experience working with children ages 3–5 in a preschool, childcare, or early childhood setting
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice, play-based learning, and early childhood best practices
  • Familiarity with IEPs, early intervention, and IDEA Part B (preferred)
  • Warm, patient, and nurturing approach to working with young children
  • Strong communication and family engagement skills
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply

  • Ongoing professional development in trauma-informed care, early childhood best practices, and more
  • Supportive, collaborative team environment with strong mentorship for new teachers
  • Career growth — pathways into special education, leadership, and clinical roles within The Children's Guild network
  • Meaningful work — the relationships you build with children and families in these early years last a lifetime
