JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a detail-oriented bookkeeper and corporate tax specialist to support Terana Platform Inc., a bilingual sports facility booking marketplace based in Montreal. This contractor role offers the opportunity to work with a growing tech startup using modern tools including Stripe Connect and Xero. The ideal candidate will have solid experience with Quebec and Canadian corporate tax compliance, bookkeeping, and account reconciliation. This position is essential for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with CRA and Revenu Québec standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping using Xero, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Perform bank reconciliation and Stripe Connect payment reconciliation to verify accuracy of financial data.
- Prepare and file GST/HST and QST returns with Revenu Québec.
- Prepare and file the federal corporate tax return (T2) and Quebec provincial return (CO-17).
- Produce year-end financial statements including income statement and balance sheet.
- Track shareholder equity transactions and loan accounts.
- Prepare financial reports and account analysis to support budgeting and grant applications.
- Maintain organized records of all financial transactions in compliance with CRA and Revenu Québec requirements.
EXPERIENCE
- CPA designation (CA, CGA, or CMA) — required.
- Proven experience filing T2 and CO-17 corporate returns for Quebec-based corporations.
- Proficiency with Xero — must be comfortable working directly in our account.
- Experience reconciling Stripe or similar payment platform transactions is highly desirable.
- Basic understanding of bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
- Familiarity with SaaS or marketplace business models is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Bilingual French/English — an asset.
